The iconic Skyline restaurant on Queen Street in downtown Toronto has recently gone through a change in ownership. For those who are not in the know, the dynamics of a restaurant change when it goes through new ownership. This is a transition that is very difficult for the employees to go through. As an employee, you feel the changes and the changes that surround you almost immediately. Even the employees forget that the regulars (customers) feel the difference in an ownership change. It is almost inevitable that a restaurant will lose some of its regular customers during a transition. All because they are treated differently which is due to the price or just the basic principle of being hospitable is lost.

The filmmaking duo of producer Ivy Knight and director JR Reid bring you an interesting short film Skyline to the 30th anniversary of the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. Ivy Knight who is a chef, food writer, and journalist is not fond of a change in the ownership of the iconic Skyline Restaurant. The diner in Toronto which has been running since the 1960s is one of Ivy Knight’s favourites. She takes matters into her own hands and shows her true love for restaurants in this interesting short documentary film.
