Rabbit Trap is a 2025 British psychological horror film written and directed by Bryn Chainey, making his feature-length debut. Starring Dev Patel and Rosy McEwen, the film follows married musicians Daphne and Darcy Davenport as they leave the chaos of London for the serenity of a remote Welsh cottage to finish their latest album. Set in 1973, Their creative retreat takes a surreal turn when they accidentally record a hauntingly mystical sound, unlike anything they’ve ever heard.

What begins as a musical breakthrough soon transforms into an eerie unravelling of their perceptions, as the sound draws them into a psychological labyrinth where reality and illusion collide. This is through the help of a young rabbit trapper played by Jade Croot who makes their lives that much more difficult.

Set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Rabbit Trap is a chilling exploration of artistic obsession, isolation, and the fragility of the human mind. Chainey crafts a mesmerizing atmosphere, blending haunting visuals with an unsettling soundscape that immerses audiences in the couple’s descent into madness.

Dev Patel and Rosy McEwen deliver riveting performances, capturing the tension and vulnerability of two people whose connection to each other—and to reality—is tested in increasingly terrifying ways. A unique fusion of psychological horror and atmospheric storytelling, Rabbit Trap promises to be one of the most haunting and memorable films of the festival. FERNTV says that this film is one of the most anticipated horror films of 2025.
