Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s Wolfs’ Too Cute @Venice Film Festival 2024
Brad Pitt and George Clooney reunite for the film Wolfs at the Venice Film Festival
You know when both Brad Pitt and George Clooney get together for a movie, it is usually a good time. Ever since Ocean’s 11, the two elite actors have been most charming working off each other and entertaining chemistry. Wolfs directed by Jon Watts has the two actors joining forces once again in a different role and different setting. The two who are rumoured to be paid 35 million each for their roles in the movie play two experts who are called in to fix a problem. During the press conference, George Clooney shot that report down by saying that they are off by “millions of millions”.
A woman Margaret, played by Amy Ryan, calls for help as a young adult, played by Austin Abrams, is asked to go upstairs with her to have a little fun. Unfortunately, the young man starts to jump up and down on a bed and trips over and has his head hit the table lamp and glass desk. The woman starts to panic and makes a phone to call the expert Jack played by George Clooney. The lone wolf starts to instruct the woman right away on what not to do and what to do while the young man is dead.
George enters the penthouse to start clearing up the woman’s mess and tries to figure out what her and the young man’s intentions are. As embarrassing as it may seem to the woman she does tell George the whole story but something unexpected happens. Someone knocks on the door and the woman is instructed by George to answer the door. Brad Pitt’s character Nick walks and says so himself that someone was called in to clear the mess as well. As Jack is startled at this other known expert in the city, they soon find out that they must work with each other to clean up the mess.
Wolfs’ premise is very promising but somewhat falls flat-footed at times. It has to be one of those ideas that both these two came up with that was so good on paper but somewhat difficult to execute. FERNTV sometimes found it way too cute even though you have the two most masculine men in Hollywood on the big screen. Don’t get me wrong Wolfs is quite entertaining from start to finish but the cuteness doesn’t balance out making the film a little far-fetched sometimes.
Even though it is set against the backdrop of what it looks like to be New York City on a cold winter night, it is a little bit unbelievable. The witty humour and chemistry between both Clooney and Pitt sustains the film to its “yeah right’ parts but it lacks real intensity. FERNTV thinks that the film Wolfs is coy and comedic which doesn’t mix in with its slickness. Because the underground where bad things are covered by outcasts is never a laughing matter.
