Ben Affleck in The Accountant 2

Ben Affleck returns to the screen as Christian Wolff in The Accountant 2, the long-anticipated sequel to the 2016 action-thriller. Set to premiere at SXSW 2025, the film picks up with Wolff, a mathematical savant and lethal operative, being drawn out of his low-profile life by Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina (played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson). The catalyst for Wolff’s reemergence is the tragic murder of someone close to both him and Medina, a crime that points to a shadowy network of assassins. As the bodies pile up and the stakes escalate, Wolff’s unique skill set proves essential in unravelling the conspiracy and seeking justice.

The sequel introduces a new dynamic to the story by delving deeper into Wolff’s personal life, as he is forced to team up with his estranged and equally deadly brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal). Their uneasy alliance provides the emotional core of the film, blending sharp action sequences with moments of raw vulnerability. Directed by Gavin O’ConnorThe Accountant 2 promises to be a gripping continuation of the original, offering a mix of cerebral puzzles, intense combat, and the exploration of family bonds tested by extraordinary circumstances. Fans of the franchise are in for a thrilling ride as Wolff and Brax work together to solve a murder that threatens to unearth secrets neither of them can afford to face. FERNTV says that this is the sequel that everyone has been waiting for.
