It was quite the night for Anora, which swept up at The Oscars with five awards. Anora finished the night with five Oscar wins: Best Picture, Best Actress, Mikey Madison, Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Director. Of these, Baker personally won four, as the film’s director, producer, editor, and screenwriter. The film paid tribute to sex workers in which actress Milkey Madison shouted out to during her acceptance speech.

Director Mike Baker also encouraged the audience and the millions who were watching around the world to go back and watch films in the theatre. He mentioned that movie watching was an experience and that he will always make films for the big screen. Producers Alex Coco and Canadian Samanthan Quan of the film mentioned when winning the Best Picture, the power of independent cinema. Much kudos went out to Neon Pictures for supporting as this year’s Oscars may be a turning point for the film industry. FERNTV felt that this year’s show was truly satisfying.
