Brendan Fraser in “The Whale”

Fans have been wondering about the whereabouts of Brendan Fraser for quite some time. The star of The Mummy series has been on a hiatus causing the industry to speculate when he would return to the silver screen. The beloved actor is now set to make a comeback in a manner that you have never seen before.

Fraser told Unilad last year “It’s gonna be like something you haven’t seen before.” He continues, “that’s really all I can tell you…The wardrobe and costume were extensive, seamless, and cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done but not to be coy…I do know it’s going to make a lasting impression.”

The Whale is director Darren Aronofsky‘s latest installment where Brendan Fraser plays a 600-pound recluse. Sadie Sink of Stranger Things plays his daughter with whom Fraser’s character is trying to reconnect with.

This is Brendan Fraser’s return to a leading role since 2013’s direct-to-DVD movie “Breakout“.

Director Darren Aronofsky also returns to TIFF after dividing moviegoers and the industry with “mother!” It will be interesting to see how his cinematographer Matthew Libatique shoots this one after working with Aronofsky on all his films except “The Wrestler“.

Nevertheless, FERNTV sees this one should be the one for the masses. No pun intended.
