FANTASIA 2018: LUZ

Published

on

Luz was a film that premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival and had a lot of festival goers, movie buffs, journalists and film directors quite curious about its content causing a worthy buzz. Director Tilman Singer‘s directorial debut is gutsy and groundbreaking let alone provocative.  Taxi driver Luz focuses on the title character played by Luana Velis who we are introduced to in the very beginning of the film as she enters a police station stained with blood all over and waiting for some sort of response in her quest for help.  She would eventually get that help from a psychologist named Dr. Rossini played by Jan Bluthardt who gets the call from a pair detectives back at the police station.  Before he makes way to the station, Rossini is seduced by Nora played by Julia Reidler who is a friend of Luz and wants his professional expertise to help her.  After a session of drinking and drugs at a nearby bar by the police station, the two head into the washroom for more but an exchange of demonic possession actually happens.  By the time Rossini gets to the station, he is not himself but puts Luz into a hypnosis to figure out what is going on.  FERNTV spoke to director Tilman Singer to discuss where the premise of this film came from.
