If Amycanbe tells the musical truth, then they are definitely a godsend. There are a lot of folk bands out there but what makes Amycanbe stand out from the rest is that cinematic sounding style will make you give your ears one whale of a time. But where else would you be able to get a style like theirs than in the country of Italy where musicians like Ennio Morricone makes their production in a cinema like fashion. FERNTV interviews band member Mattia Mercuriali to discuss why the truth about Amycanbe be told...
FERNTV: Can you first tell us here at FERNTV what an Amycanbe is?
Mattia: An Amycanbe is a 5 piece body… or better, a 5 brained head.. eheh… fighting each others.
FERNTV: Why do you think it has taken Amycanbe several years to finally put together an album that being Mountain Whales and are you happy with its release?
Mattia: Releasing an album is not easy today.. unless you have a lot of money to spend.. we just spent less than 3 weeks recording and 1 week mixing.. it’s not so much in the end… :)
FERNTV: Amycanbe has done a lot of touring in the past years, what was the biggest thing you have learned about touring?
Mattia: mmm…. For sure: “never forget your sleeping bag at home!!”
FERNTV: From your perspective what is cinematic folk pop?
Mattia: It is a better way to say “music you can sleep with”…
FERNTV: By just looking at some of your galleries of Amycanbe it seems like your a tight-knit family. Can you comment on this and is this is an element to Amycanbe's success?
Mattia: I don’t know if we are so tight as it might seem.. but, as in the best families, we argue sometimes .. I think a strong element of success is the fact that anyone brings their “strongness” and competence..
FERNTV: Tell us about the musical climate in Italy and the competition?
Mattia: Well..we have a lot of very good bands… but I don’t know anyone that can live with music…this exlplains a lot of things…
FERNTV: Do you keep on being surprised about the rave reviews blogs, websites and magazines say about Amycanbe?
Mattia: Yes..it is always great when you read about what others think about your music… it is a good starting point for improving yourself… maybe..
FERNTV: What are some of the great things that we should expect from the group this year?
Mattia: I hope we will tour more and more… not only in Italy of course.. and we should release new stuff in 2012…
